“Hi, my name is Vikki.”

Those were the first words I wrote on this blog. It was February of 2006 and I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t know that those words marked a new beginning.

I never imagined this blog would help me become the writer I had always wanted to be or that it would bring so  many incredible people into my life.

But it did.

Since starting this blog, I have spoken on panels, read my work on stages in New York and Minneapolis and have completed one manuscript and started another.

I write about the unexpected things in life that make me think, laugh or – better yet – both.

I am Managing Editor and a regular contributor to VillageQ, a site that gives voice to the experience of LGBTQ parents. I am also co-director of Listen To Your Mother Twin Cities. In 2013, I completed the Foreword Writing Apprenticeship in Creative Nonfiction at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and received the Beyond the Pure Fellowship for writers.

My writing has appeared on the Huffington Post, Autostraddle, Aiming Low and Grace the Spot.
