Peep Week takes a lot of work and I’ve been living peep to mouth this year – filming and editing for the next day.
I’m sure that it’s just as exhausting watching all these peep videos so we all deserve a drink, don’t you think?
This year’s peep cocktail is once again from my friend, Grace Yip. It involves Kaluha, Bailey’s, Bacardi 151 and FIRE!
We shot this last night and I watched the footage and edited it this morning. One of the funniest parts is…well…I don’t want to give it away. Just keep your eye on the match that I use.
There are many recipes out there for making your own Peeps. Every single one of them seems messy and time consuming so I have never had any interest in trying to make them.
Until now.
Luisa is out of town and the kids are on Spring Break and I have completely overextended myself so it seemed like the perfect time to take on a labor intensive project!
There are some things you should know about this video. One – the camera adds 10 pounds. Two – my shirt apparently adds 10 pounds too. Three – I had to shoot it myself which means that the footage required a lot of editing. Four – I’m short on time and couldn’t spend as much time editing as I would have liked.
The video is long. You don’t have to watch it. Of course, I’ll know if you don’t. How will I know? Because I’m omniscient on Thursdays.
The video is family friendly because I edited out the swearing.
Last year, several peeple sent me links about Peep Sushi (Peepshi) so I thought I’d try making it this year. My first step was to find a sucker to help me which turned out to be easier than I thought.
My friend, Kristen Brown, actually makes delicious real sushi so I thought I’d start by asking her to help and she graciously agreed. I didn’t even have to bribe her!
We used this website for general instructions and just winged it. Kristen took her role as chef very seriously, measuring and molding and making sure that the Peepshi looked as good as possible. She showed great attention to detail despite the fact that I was standing beside her saying, “It doesn’t matter! Just plop it on there!”
We worked well together until she tried to put parsley in one of them and I had to draw the line. Peep Week desserts cannot have any natural ingredients!
Isn’t it pleasing to the eye? But is it pleasing to the palate?
It turned out better than I expected and was edible (which was also a surprise). I would say that the quality of your Peepshi all comes down to the quality of your Fruit Roll Ups. The better the fruit roll up, the better the Peepshi. Write that down…that is some Peep wisdom right there.
Today in Peepland, we are checking out the new Rainbow Peep Pops which look like someone just shoved four Peeps on a stick.
The video gives you a pretty good rundown of the product so I will let it speak for itself.
There are two things you should know about Miguel before you watch today’s video. While in Kansas City, Miguel shaved his head in solidarity with a family member who just started chemotherapy. Also, a dog bit him in the face. So, he looks a little rough in the video but I assure you that is just fine.
There are a few things that you should know about me before you watch today’s video. I need new sunglasses and a tan. Also, I need to hold the camera further away from my face next time because I look old and scary.
Now…on with the show…
So, what do you think? Are you going to rush out to buy arm loads of Rainbow Peep Pops before they are all gone?
