A Peepy Tribute

I have been hard at work editing The Peep Show so that I can debut it right here at Up Popped A Fox around Easter. The video has been edited, the narration is complete and I am in the process of adding sound effects and music. Since Miguel is sick today, this was the perfect time for me to record some original music for this little production. Many moons ago, I wrote a song for this peep thing and I dug through my journals to find it today. Crazily enough, I wrote the song on 2/18/99, exactly 10 years ago today. I took this as a sign that I was meant to share it with you on this very day. The song is paired with raw footage from The Peep Show (most of these shots aren’t even in the final edit…for those of you worried about spoilers) and I threw it together pretty quickly. Now…be warned…I am performing the song myself (which will also satisfy those clamoring for a clip of me singing). Just remember…I am not a professional musician. Please laugh with me, not at me. Without further ado…

Don’t forget – today is the last day of voting in The Lezzy competition. Vote, vote vote!

If this is what we get from Miguel being sick and you being home from work, all I can say is, buck up Miguel and be sick more often!

Peep-spirational! That made my day! And now I’m wondering what the Peeps in the cupboard do while we’re not home or at night while we’re sleeping…

Okay, the girlie and I are watching this, and she goes, “What is that hoppity thing?” And I go, “I think it’s a bug! No! A Peep volleyball!”

I swear I teared up when you got to “We born to this world but we never will expire.” I swear.

That was me above. Not sure what I did with the other half of my name. Meant to say that I am voting for you and Lesbian Dad in the Lezzies too, well done both.

Everyone in the house came running when they heard me laughing and shrieking at this. Phenomenal. Your voice is beautiful!!

I was *just* thinking about what you all had in store for us Peep-wise this year, and then this. I am not just a casual Peep fan either–I’ve probably mentioned the enormous Peep monument my college roommates built for me for my birthday. And this tops that!

Um… not sure what happened to my earlier comment. Anyway, it was a compliment for your entry.

I have tears running down my face. This is so great!!! I am definitely laughing with you. And, btw, so nice to hear you sing again! I can’t even remember the last time I got to attend a Vikki performance. Its definitely been too long.

Meg – see! Totally worth it to vote for me for Parenting/WEDDING blog ’cause I could sing The Peep Song at weddings!

I feel like I need a review summary: “Peep-spirational!” “Great!” “Bravo!” “Phenomenal!” “It blew me away!” Heck, you all are going to give me a big head.

Polly – you can tell the girlie that the ball is better controlled in the final edit and will hopefully be more obviously a volley ball.

Marjorie – I hope that the movie itself will surpass the trailer and the song. Time will tell.

Blue Milk – it had to be approved because of the different name. So, it’s all there now!

Vikki, I sent the link for your video to Lisa Yee, a children’s author who never goes anywhere without Peepy, her plush peep. Lisa often blogs about peeps and Peepy.

just don’t look at the entries where she microwaves the peeps….

You are so frickin’ talented. I forgot that you played guitar. I sort of remembered with the photo from school and it all came rushing back to me hearing your voice again. Brava!

Crying (while laughing) over peeps?! It’s a first for me.

“we can fly…”
I will never allow my children or nieces/nephews to see this- only because we have a tradition now of roasting our peeps over the fire (or gas stove-top) and eating them ala creme brulee! We have had way too many terrible traumas regarding foodstuff and cooking… Don’t need to add this as well!

Sweet/funny song- great footage (and props) Really love what’s in your head Vikki! Luisa and your kids are so lucky!

Yay. I loved the song and the video. I can’t wait to see your “final cut” of the Peep Show. Thank you for singing. I’ve had a crappy week, and this brought me some joy. Always great to hear you play guitar and sing…
