Strep

You remember that post I promised you earlier in the day? Yeah, that’s not going to happen. Our evening got all mucked up when I picked Miguel up at school at 4 p.m. and he said, “Mama…I want to go to bed”. This is something that I might say but this is not something Miguel ever says unless he is sick. Long story short…strep has arrived at our house. Zeca is sleeping (am I naive to hope that she doesn’t get it?) and Miguel is now doped up on antibiotics and motrin and is in bed as well. So, I’m not going to blog tonight. Instead, I am going to celebrate The Strep by eating popcorn and lying on the couch. Maybe I’ll blog tomorrow…unless Zeca has been playing with rats and comes down with The Plague. Hey, anything can happen.

Well, at least now one only needs a zpac for plague. We can still sing Ring Around the Rosie though, if that helps.

Oh no, how I feel for you. I’m ashamed to admit that the first thing I think of when someone in our house turns out sick is… “Great. And how many of us are now going to get it?”

Spencer came down with the flu last week. That baby and I are now sporting 103+ fevers. Life sucks.

I hope it turns out differently for all of you. We may use environmentally friendly detergents and cleaners, but I have no hesitations dousing our house with bleach instead of vinegar when the right illness comes along.

Amy – sorry to hear that you’re all sick. Blah. We’ll see if Zeca gets it. We have had miracles in the past. ha ha.

Very sorry to hear. Our household has only just recently returned to 80% healthy. It aren’t fun. Where the Sam Hill is Mary Poppins when we need her, one must ask.

I hope Miguel gets better soon and Zeca doesn’t get the plague or strep. I once went on an exciting field trip for my wildlife biology class in college to a wildlife refuge in Pullman, WA. We weren’t able to see many animals because they had just resuced a bunch of beavers that had the plague and so all the little animals were in quarantine. We did get to see grizzly bears. Huh, I just really strayed from your topic. Stay healthy!

I have not acquired strep on the occasions that my children have, but, it is possible that I am just stubborn and maybe I had it but refused to believe it because I was too busy to be sick.

When my children were your kids’ age, I hated for them to be sick, but, kind of enjoyed having a reason to stay home and be with them all day instead of going to work.

Both of my kids have bad colds. Hmm…maybe I’ll stay home tomorrow. Maybe I’ll let THEM stay home tomorrow, too!
