Yesterday, I was shocked to read that Bill Clinton allegedly had an affair with Gina Gershon. Bill Clinton and Gina Gershon? Really? I had to tell someone about this breaking news so I e-mailed my friend Susan who shares my penchant for pop culture and gossip. I gave her plenty of time to write me back…like maybe a half hour…but she never wrote back. So, I tried to call her at home. The line was busy. This was breaking news, urgent even, and she was nowhere to be found! I briefly considered driving over to her house but I thought that might be just a tad too much and decided to leave her a voice mail message with the details. HOURS later, she finally called me back and told me that she had never received my e-mail. I then excitedly relayed the news and she was appropriately awed and then I asked what she was doing. She told me she was waiting for the big news about Obama and Clinton. I was like, “What? What news?” She then told me about Obama clinching the nomination and Clinton’s possible concession. I had to ask, “Where did you hear this?” She told me she had only read about it ALL OVER THE INTERNET. This is what happens when you only read entertainment headlines.
I got off the phone and sat down to dinner with Luisa, the kids and my mother-in-law. I passed on the Obama/Clinton news and Miguel proceeded to express his excitement about Obama, criticize McCain and weigh in on Obama’s chances in November (He’s calling the race for McCain, in case you are interested. That’s the word on the streets, whatever streets 6 year olds hang out on). His political tirade was endearing, though we had to discourage the use of words such as “stupid” and “hate” and insist on respectful discourse. He thought that was all well and good but insisted that George Bush is, in fact, stupid because he has sent so many people to war in Iraq and so many people have died. In my most parental tone, I said, “Miguel…George Bush is not stupid” and I nearly choked on the words and fell from my chair. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law looked as if she had a mouthful of rocks and was grinding them to dust with her teeth. You see, my mother-in-law is a republican.

I just heard the whole Bill and Gina thing too…WTF? Really? It HAS to be just a rumor. She is too hot and he is too… well, lets just say he’s no George Clooney for hotness.
Kuddos to your brilliant son for his comments about Bush. Too bad he is calling the race for McCain… PLEASE LET HIM BE WRONG!!!!!
PS If he can’t call Bush stupid, how about idiot? moron? give the kid some room for accurate description!

ha ha… my wife and I read this together and both laughed out loud!! Too funny. In our family, we state Bush’s stupidity as fact…
Our kids also have grandparents that are republican, when this came up one evening – I vividly remember Amy telling the kids that everyone has a right to vote…even if their wrong.

I spent my ENTIRE lunch hour with you yesterday and you did not so much as hint at this whole Bill and Gina thing.
I am so disappointed in you.

… and Gina Gershon?!!
Say it isn’t so!
Ah. Just double-checked the rumor mill. It’s from a Vanity Fair article, based on rumors, she’s demanded they retract, & has muttered things about libel.
Still, I won’t be able to chew my popcorn the same way, next time I watch Bound.

Can I out your further? You forgot to mention that I also informed you that Barack Obama was going to be in Saint Paul… and you were surprised. Tee hee hee. And we’ll tell George that you don’t find him stupid. I’m sure he’ll be relieved and touched. And the news about concession or vice presidency or whatever, well, it still goes on. and on. and on….
